Additional events on the game week outside the stadium
Lahti Ski Games will be all over Lahti in different additional events the whole week through from 5th of till 11th of March. The purpose of the events is to raise the game atmosphere before the weekend and the actual games.
On Wednesday 7th of March Lahti Ski Games is strongly present at the Lahti market place. There will also be a Lahti Ski Games –day at the Trio shopping center, where there will be a media briefing open to all public among other things. On Thursday 8th of March Lahti Jokimaa race track has a horse race, where the Lahti Ski Games organizers are very visible part of the event. On Friday in the Church of the Cross and in the Orthodox Church have a devotional service at 20.00. For the young people Friday offers a disco at the Joutjärvi youth center from 19.00 till 23.00 with live music.
Small change to Friday’s timetable
Lahti Ski Games will start on Friday 9.3.2007. Timetable for the day has been adjusted concerning the starting time of the official training and qualifying of ski jumping. According to the new timetable the two practice rounds of ski jumping will begin at 17.00. The qualifying for the opening of Nordic Tournament on Sunday will start at 19.00. Adjustments has been made due to the broadcasting of the qualifying.
In addition of the qualifying of ski jumping, Nordic Combined competitors will race for the world cup points. Friday’s competition is so-called Gundersen-race in which competitors will first jump twice from the HS130 ski jump and then ski 15 kilometres. A lot of children are expected to the venue on Friday, since all kindergartens and grade schools in Lahti area are invited to the games.
Saturday’s VIP tickets sold out
Ticket sales for the Lahti Ski Games has picked up since the beginning of the year. Especially tickets sold mainly to companies have sold very well. Less than three weeks before the games begin the VIP tickets for Saturday have practically been sold out.
There are two kinds of VIP categories in the Lahti Ski Games. VIP-Club offers the best environment for taking care of customer relations. VIP tent brings customers in the middle of the event for the VIP tent is located right next to the event tent where all of the additional program takes place. Enquires about thte free tickets for the Saturday can be made from the game office. Some of the ticket reservations will be confirmed on 15th of February which may bring more tickets to sale. For Friday and Sunday VIP tickets are still available.
A symbol for the World Championships 2013 candidate
Lahti is applying for the year 2013 Nordic World Championships with a new symbol. The new candidate symbol will be official on 1st of May when Lahti submits a written application for the International Ski Federation FIS.
Alltogether 40 different proposals for the candidatesymbol came from 20 different designers. From the proposals Lahti Ski Games Managing Committee selected six proposals and on 6th of February they selected a winner, advertising company ADG.
“The symbol for the Nordic World Championships 2013 represents the Lahti ski jumps stylized in the colours of precious metals. World Championships is about competing for the precious medals and the emblem is a symbol for those colours. The colours and metals can also be associated with the Finnish mythology such as Kalevala and the primitive forces.” Says Jarmo Hollanti from ADG.
ADG is an advertising company from Lahti and it was founded in 2000. The company has a lot of experience from marketing the third sector and from campaigns that have lead to commercial success.
82nd Lahti Ski Games 9.-11.3.2007
Lahti Ski Games is a true Finnish legend with a unique “Lahti atmosphere”. This is a result of long traditions, special location, the best athletes, big crowds and interesting special events. In fact, Lahti Ski Games is the biggest annual winter sports event in Finland.
Lahti Ski Games is now arranged for the 82nd time on 9–11 March 2007, just after the FIS World Ski Championships in Sapporo. Competion programme includes eight FIS World Cup competitions in Ski jumping, cross-country and Nordic combined.
